DOWA has launched high-power SMD (Surface Mounted Device) mounted SWIR (Short-Wavelength-Infrared) LED for machine vision and healthcare applications. Compared to LED die, SMD offer easier integration onto devices, providing flexibility in design and assembly.
SMD is expected to be used in applications such as moisture detection, food analysis, plastic sorting for recycling and semiconductor wafer inspection in machine vision.In healthcare market, by utilizing transmission and absorption of SWIR light, it becomes possible to shift from invasive diagnostic methods like blood sampling to non-invasive sensor of wearable devices, enabling a wide range of potential applications.
